I run Boyne Valley Tours and noticed how often sheep are in photos of megalithic sites : Newgrange, Tara, Loughcrew, Avebury and more.

Rock Art, Magheranaul, Doagh Island, Co. Donegal

Rock Art, Magheranaul, Doagh Island, Co. Donegal. The nearest remaining megalithic art of the Boyne Valley passage tomb variety is in the Tyrone/Fermanagh area, this kind of open air rock art is pretty unique to the island of Doagh. All kinds of weird and wonderful carvings used to be found around this area but many were literally blown up during land clearance in the early 80's. Text and Photo by Ken Williams

  1. It's absolutely criminal that those tyre tracks just run straight over the stone! Is there no protection for such things in Ireland?
